Manuscript Consultation, Editing, & Creativity Coaching
Margo Perin directs an international manuscript consultation, editing, and creativity coaching business. She works with writers in a variety of ways, from intensive manuscript editing, through assessment of structure and content and most effective writing practices to brainstorming ideas for what and how to write next and a deep exploration of the creative process. With her skills as a creative writing teacher, she educates as she edits and coaches, allowing the writer to become widely informed about her/his strengths at the same time as teaching on the page how to “fix” whatever problems of craft or process are apparent in the work at hand.
Initially, Margo and the writer work out the strategies that will most efficiently help the writer achieve her/his goals, including consultation, editing, coaching, and/or final preparation for publication. Once these strategies have been set, Margo works closely with the writer and the manuscript to fulfill these goals.
Her clients include novelists, memoirists, short story and personal essay writers and poets, as well as academic and technical writers and journalists.
About working with Margo, Bill Eisele of the popular novel Scrub Match says, “The positive reinforcement that I got was so critical to me when I was trying to decide whether to write the novel. She put a lot of thought into her feedback, so even if there wasn’t much there to start with she would help to make it into more and help you push it to the next level.”
Kirk Citron of The Empty Nest Tour writes, “Margo is exactly what I’ve wanted in an editor: a reader who is thoughtful, kind, supportive and deeply perceptive. With everything she’s read for me, she’s pushed me to go deeper, to discover more. Now I find that when I’m writing, I’ve learned to ask myself the same questions she’s asked me in the past: Can this be more vivid? What is the character feeling? What’s being said here between the lines? I encourage you to work with her. Your writing will get better.”
Tina Stromsted, Ph.D., Jungian Analyst & Dance Therapist, says, "Margo’s keen editor’s eye, deep heart and expert ear bring out the music in my writing. She sees what’s not needed, links ideas and burnishes buried treasures. She's a wonderful teacher, a great soul and a pleasure to work with; I highly recommend her! "
